President of Pakistan, General Musharraf repeats often that the main CBM (Confidence Building Measure) is to accept that 'Kashmir is the core issue'. Essentially, by saying so, Pakistan implies whether the status of J&K as an integral part of India is the core issue. This is Pakistan's sole agenda.

This core issue now gets translated as the violence in J&K due to infiltration from Pakistan and the cross border terrorism perpetuated by these terrorists sponsored by Pakistan. This continues to gain enormous importance and the Kargil fiasco by Pakistan proves it beyond doubt. This has been India's long standing position which is now justifiably gaining more international attention, much to the displeasure of Pakistani establishment.
