Finally now the stage has reached to suggest as to what line of action India has to take to ensure the viability and integrity of her territory. To enable her to do so she must realise that it is Pakistan who is her principal antagonist in Jammu and Kashmir.

Secondly, the United States of America could have an interest which could go against Indian interests. It is for India to ensure that there is a certain degree of congruity between the two countries' interests. (Possibly a first step in this direction has been taken during Vajpayee's visit to the United States of America.)

Thirdly, while India and China have clashing commercial interests reflected in their clash over the borders, China is not keen that the status quo in Jammu and Kashmir is altered or Pakistan gains complete access to Jammu and Kashmir. She is convinced that under the circumstances the United States of America will be able to purchase Pakistan to further her own interests. She would, therefore, like the status quo in Jammu and Kashmir to be maintained. To neutralise Indian economic threat she will continue to, indirectly, encourage insurgencies in India so that she remains bogged down in counter insurgency operations and not have the resources available to develop herself economically.

Fourthly, India must realise that she has developed into one of the most corrupt societies. Unless she can pull herself back from this Abyss, she will continue to face dissatisfaction from some segment of society or the other leading to insurgencies.
